Here is the author's (sort of) rebuttal, in the form of an email we received from our ISP:
We received a complaint from Mr. Paul Danylewich about your website.
While we have no planned actions at this time, we feel you should be notified that he is pondering legal action. He claims that since you're reviewing his book (in negative terms) on a website for your own self defense site that it's not objective, and is therefore defamatory.
For the time being, we'll leave it up to you if you want to do anything about this.
So, we never received any sort of direct rebuttal from Mr. Danylewich, and
I guess we never really expected one if the email above was any indication
- it's much easier to try and silence your critics than actually respond
to them.
(For those of you who are wondering, no, a negative book review is not
automatically defamatory, it doesn't matter if the reviewer is biased or
not, and certainly doesn't matter if the reviewer has his own self-defence
site)
